Indian Army builds 190-feet Bailey Bridge for Kerala Wayanad rescue!
Recent Wayanad landslides destroyed the everyday lives of the people in Chooralmala and Mundakkai. NDRF, Indian Army, Local Police and Firefighters were working hard to rescue people. This sudden landslide destroyed numerous houses, buildings, roads and trees, trapping hundreds of residents. As of now, the death toll has reached 308, continuing the rescue operation.
The Indian Army worked hard for 31 hours to build a 190-foot bridge connecting Chooralmala and Mundakkai. The 100-foot-long concrete bridge was constructed in the same spot as the prefabricated truss bridge.
The army checked the integrity of the bridge by sending an ambulance and a military truck. Major General V T Mathew said that this Bailey Bridge is 3 meters wide and can carry 24 tonnes for this landslide search operation. According to reports, the bridge can carry earthmovers, trucks, excavators, ambulances, and other vehicles.
Mundakkai and Chooralmala are the areas most affected by this accident over the Iruvanjippuzha River. Of the 400 people trapped, only 30 survived Tuesday's massive landslide.
