Channi Trolled For Meeting Journalists, A Day After Avoiding PM Over COVID Fears

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy was stranded on a flyover in Punjab for nearly 15 to 20 minutes on Wednesday. Modi who landed in Bathinda had to take the road route to the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala on Ferozepur on January 5. Some protesters stopped Modi's convoy when it reached near Piareana on Ferozepur-Moga road, around 30 km away from the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala. The major security lapse is reflective of the total collapse of the law and order machinery in Punjab.

Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi in a press conference said that he was supposed to receive PM Modi at Bathinda airport but could not do so after his chief secretary tested positive for Covid-19. He also said that the Finance Minister was sent to receive PM Modi.

Now, netizens are trolling Channi for meeting journalists, just a day after avoiding meeting PM Modi over COVID fears.

To hell with propriety, the President of India should dismiss CHANNI’s Government only to send the signal that you can’t mess with the security of the Prime Minister of India no matter how much you detest him and / or his politics. It’s the office you are playing with!

Punjab CM Channi says he did not receive PM Modi and was not accompanying him during the security breach because others who were going to accompany him tested COVID positive. And he says this hours later at a press conference with considerable attendance, with his mask off.
