Ayodhya Mosque Ceremony On Republic Day: 10 Points You Must Know About Dhannipur Mosque Construction

It is the beginning of a new project on 26^th January. Construction of the Ayodhya mosque will begin on Republic Day. The announcement was made by the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) trust in which they confirmed that the flag hoisting ceremony on 26^th, will also mark the beginning of the project.

The mosque will be built at Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. The Dhannipur mosque project will also include construction of a museum, community kitchen, Research Centre, hospital and a publication house.

The IICF said that “Republic Day will be celebrated with the start of the Dhannipur Mosque Project.” Along with the flag hoisting, a tree plantation drive was also announced. The plantation drive was planned in order to spread awareness on the importance of trees and climate change.

"As envisaged in the project, a green area will be developed to have plants from all over the world from Amazon rainforest to areas having bushfires in Australia and from all different geographical regions of India to create awareness for imminent threat of climate change," added IICF.

The mosque will be built as per the verdict passed by the Supreme Court in Ram Janmabhoomi case. It was decided by the court that the disputed Ayodhya land will be assigned for the construction of Ram Temple. The court also allocated a plot to the Sunni Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque.

IMPORTANT POINTS

• In 1528, a Mosque was built by the Mughal emperor Babur and therefore, it is called Babri Masjid.
• The Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992. This day was marked as 'Black Day' by Muslims.
• After years of waiting, the Supreme Court finally delivered their verdict on the ‘Ram Janmabhoomi’ case on November 9, 2019.
• The Supreme Court has assigned the disputed Ayodhya land to the Hindus for Ram temple and allotted a plot just 25 km away from the Temple, to Sunni Waqf Board for Mosque construction.
• On 26^th January 2021, A flag hoisting ceremony will take place on the land along with a tree-plantation drive which will mark the beginning of the project.
• The Dhannipur mosque will be built on a five-acre plot (15,000 square feet) and will be of the same size as the demolished Babri mosque.
• Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) trust will handle and take care of the construction process.
• The IICF was formed by the Sunni Central Waqf Board specifically to handle the construction project.
• Along with the mosque, IICF has also applied for the approval of a construction plan which includes a library, community kitchen, hospital, museum, Indo-Islamic cultural research centre and a publication house.
• The design of the mosque has been decided and will include a modern-looking glass dome.
