AP COVID-19 Update June 1: 76 New Cases, Tally At 3,118
VIJAYAWADA: The COVID-19 tally in Andhra Pradesh rose to 3,118 with 76 new cases reported in the last 24 hours till 9 am on Monday.
A total of 10,567 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 76 tested positive in the state, according to the media bulletin issued by the State Command Control Room on Monday morning,
In the last 24 hours, 64 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery. The total number of discharged in the state now stands at 2,366.
Two deaths were reported from Kurnool district taking the death toll to 64.
There are 885 active cases in the state.
Eight new cases were reported from Nellore district and had a travel history to the Koyembedu market in Chennai. The Koyambedu market which has since been closed, was identified as one of the biggest spreaders of COVID-19 cases in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
The state's cumulative tally of foreign returnees to the state rose to 112. It was 111 till Sunday and remained unchanged since Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the cumulative tally of COVID-19 cases among returnees from other states climbed to 446, and active cases are 249.
India’s coronavirus tally crossed 1.90 lakh, after a record daily jump of 8,392 cases in the last 24 hours. The country also recorded 230 deaths, taking the overall toll to 5,394 on Monday, according to the union health ministry's morning update. In a grim sign, India is now the seventh worst-affected country in the world.
