Ooru Peru Bhairavakona Review, Rating
VI Anand, the auteur behind Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada, banks upon his strengths to deliver a mysterious horror thriller, choosing Sundeep Kishan as the protagonist. Their previous collaboration, Tiger, was met with failure; nevertheless, Sundeep and VI Anand share a strong mutual trust. Will they strike lucky a second time with Ooru Peru Bhairava Kona?
Plot:
Basava (Sundeep) is a thief who steals ancestral jewellery from a house and escapes from the cops. He is accompanied by John (Viva Harsha) and Geetha (Kavya Thapar). Accidentally, the trio enter the mysterious village of 'Bhairava Kona'. The story revolves around how Basava loses his stolen jewellery in the village and how he retrieves the lost gold from the village head Rajappa (played by Ravi Shankar). The film provides answers to these questions.
Performances:
Sundeep Kishan chose a sensible story this time around. He pulls off the film on his shoulders. Viva Harsha's banter with Sundeep isn't adequate. It offers a few laughs. But a lot more is expected from the duo. Vennela Kishore is humorous at his best. His hatred of women is playing it to the galleries. Kavya Thapar is alright. Varsha Bollamma as Bhumi delivers what is expected of her. She has a pivotal role and the film revolves around her character. Ravi Shankar is good as Rajappa. Vadivukkarasi as Peddamma is impressive. All the actors have delivered their best.

Analysis
Ooru Peru Bhairavakonda starts on a very interesting note, effectively introducing the characters and situations. Director VI Anand didn't waste much time and effort on the establishment, and the proceedings move swiftly. It blends both entertainment and thrill effectively. The credit goes to the genre and the concept. The writing earns brownie points. Bhumi's story and her fight for her village are heart-touching. However, her love story with Basava needed more development.
The interval block stands out as one of the film's best highlights. It raises a lot of curiosity. Technically, there's not much to complain about. The VFX work is decent, and the editing is crisp. The only issue is that the film appears to rush through some portions. The song 'Nijame Ne Chebutunna' is a treat to watch, thanks to Shekar Chandra's captivating composition and Sid Sriram's vocals. The background music, coupled with gripping visuals, makes the film intriguing and interesting.
This isn’t the smartest film in the horror genre, but it attempts to introduce something new. If only the taut first half were followed by an equally gripping latter half.Ooru Peru Bhairava Kona shows promise in parts with some engaging moments but loses steam when it matters the most. The back story of Bhumi vs Basava could be better. It is a better film for Sundeep Kishan when compared to his recent films, whereas this is not a better work of VI Anand considering his best works in the past. The second-half has a few shortcomings such as weak ghosts and flat direction. The climax is intense and emotional. On the whole, Ooru Peru Bhairavakona scores on some points. It is watchable horror fantasy laced with thrills, emotion and entertainment.
Verdict: While Sundeep Kishan Shines, director VI Anand delivers watchable horror fantasy thriller. Go for it without much expectations and you'll enjoy it in cinemas.
