Maa Awara Zindagi. The title of the movie itself is crazy. And, to add to its whacky tone, the caption of the movie is 'Zero logic, 100% fun'. The trailer of the comedy entertainer, at more than two minutes, introduced the audience to its adult world. And the movie was released in theatres today (June 23, 2023).

Plot:

Bhatti (Srihan of Bigg Boss Telugu fame), Sibi ('Jabardasth' Ajay), Cherry (LB), and Jaswanth (Lambu) are wayward, irresponsible youngsters who are given to drinking. They are idlers who always get into trouble with SI Reddy (Sayaji Shinde). When the cop's daughter gets kidnapped by unknown assailants, the unexpected incident threatens to spoil the peace of the four friends. How do they navigate the issue? Can they come out of the situation? Have they been trapped? That's what the rest of the story is about.

Performances:

Srihan has got an innocuous mien. His facial expressions suit the role he plays in this movie. Ajay, LB and Lambu are good in their respective roles. Saddam Hussain and Tarzan are apt. The scenes between the four friends clicked with this reviewer owing to their impressive talent. Some of them are aware of the demands of the new-gen audience members, having done TV and YouTube.

It has been long since we have seen Sayaji Shinde on the big screen. His comic timing is intact. The performers carry the comedy entertainer on their shoulders without overdoing it.

Analysis:

These days, there is a lot of market for adult comedies involving male buddies. Maa Awara Zindagi tries to serve a particular segment of the large Telugu cinema market.

Right from the start, this film sets its focus on its target audience. At times, the situations are very familiar. For example, the erectile dysfunction element and the track built around a man who believes he is impotent have been inspired by other films. There are many double meaning lines (the genitalia gets referred to as 'Saamanu').

While the film turns a bit cacophonous at times, it will engage you if the genre of comedy is your cup of tea. Sometimes, the audience want to enjoy a film bereft of sentimentality. This film comes as the answer. The songs are decent, while the dialogues are entertaining. Some adult jokes have taken a beating due to beeping.

The production values are staged well. The cinematography is good. The chasing scenes are well executed. There is a twist towards the end. The climax is not regular and the way it has been told is praiseworthy.

Verdict:

Maa Awara Zindagi is watchable. The adult jokes come with a no-holds-barred effect. Watch it with your friends!

Rating:2.5/5
