Superstar Rajinikanth’s new film Lal Salaam has been released in theatres . The film has been directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant are seen as the main leads in the film. Here’s the review of Laal Salaam:
Plot: The film takes place in Kasumuru village between two close friends Guru (Vishnu Vishal) and Samshuddin (Vishal). The two thick friends become enemies due to a reason.
Moideen Bhai (Rajinikanth) is a big-shot businessman in Mumbai. Everyone in the village hates Guru, going to the extent of throwing him out of the village. The people of the village face problems because of Guru. Who is behind these incidents and events? Why is Guru targeted by Bhai? What happens to Guru? That's what the story is all about.
Performances:
Vishnu Vishal is apt. He delivers a brilliant performance from the first scene till the last scene. He lives his character and impresses everyone with his innocent looks. Also, he aces the retro style.
Vikrant gives a decent performance and looks confident on screen. The film could give him a breakthrough. Rajinikanth is the backbone of the film. He is superb in his role. Rajinakanth's mannerisms are awesome. His is the kind of extended special role that we all needed to savour. It's delightful to see Jeevitha Rajasekhar back in a Tamil movie after a long time. Her last appearance was in Magadu, released in 1989. Saritha provided the voice-over for Jeevitha Rajasekhar, dubbing for her in Dubai.
Positives:
Rajinikanth and his character.
The performances by the lead actors.
Some scenes involving the major characters.
Negatives:
Poor Characterizations
Editing
Analysis:
The film is timely and political. Not having a political opinion is also political. Lal Salaam understands this logic and takes a strong stance in favour of the truth. There are certain political underpinnings that the film revels in.
The social ideology of the film, conveyed through Rajinikanth's character, is pertinent. AR Rahman's score and songs do the film great justice.
On the flip side, the film suffers from pacing issues. The writing should have been tighter. The director, Aishwarya, doesn't do anything wrong with the climax. That's why she must be appreciated. Hope her father gives her another opportunity for her to prove her directorial skills.
Verdict: Lal Salaam is a social drama about how religious politics divide individuals. Watch it!
