Akkineni Naga Chaitanya hasn't had a proper hit for a while. Naga Chaitanya's last two films - Bangararaju and Thank You also failed to create magic at the box office. The zeal and passion of every actor to do films irrespective of the success ratio is also found in Chaithu, who is back yet again with the movie Custody. The film is directed by Venkat Prabhu. It is produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi. If you are waiting for the Custody, review, check it out:
Story: Shiva (Naga Chaitanya) works as a constable. He stops the CM's convoy for the sake of an Ambulance somewhere near Rajahmundry. With the incident, Shiva gets popular and even the CM takes note of him. He has been in love with Krithi Shetty's Revathi, who works as a driving school instructor. Shiva gets into a heated argument with Sampath Raj (a top cop from the CBI) and Aravind Swamy (a notorious criminal). Why does the hero argue with them? What is their journey? To know the answers, one must watch the film in the theatres.
Performances: Naga Chaitanya is fantastic and does his job well as a constable. He excels as a fearless cop with a sentimental flashback. He performs with honesty. Krithi Shetty shines as Revathi. It is a delight to watch Sampath Raj and Aravind Swamy on the big screen. Sarathkumar and Priyamani are good. Vennela Kishore is funny in a cameo. Jayasudha is also seen in a cameo. Jayaprakash, Ravi Prakash, Goparaju Ramana and many others have different roles. Jiiva has a surprise role.
Positives:
Naga Chaitanya's sincere performance
Interval fight
Negatives:
Dragged Screenplay
Bad Direction in the first 30 minutes
Boring First Half because of the silly love track
Elaborate Second Half doesn't always give a high
Verdict: Custody works only in bits and pieces. The unsatisfying climax with a predictable story are what the film in. The bilingual has a lot of flaws and it is watchable only for star cast performance and for the storyline. The premise is very good. Poor editing is a minus.
