Seoul, S. Korea, Under 1st Heatwave Advisory
The Seoul metropolitan government issued the city's first heatwave advisory of the year.
According to the city government, the advisory went into force at 11 a.m. for the entire city.
When there are severe health concerns anticipated as a result of a sudden rise in temperature or extended heat wave conditions, a heat wave alert is issued. The highest temperature is predicted to be 33 degrees or higher for two or more consecutive days.
In accordance with the advisory, the city's government will immediately activate its extensive support situation room and start performing emergency duties to monitor the weather and reports of diseases due to the heat.
In addition to other precautions, the authorities intend to call the elderly living alone every two days and patrol areas with a large number of homeless people to make sure they remain unharmed by the heat wave.
The first heat wave advisories of the year were issued on Saturday as a result of the soaring temperatures across the country.
These advisories, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration, went into effect at 11 a.m. on Saturday in 13 different parts of the nation, including Gwangju and Daegu.
