A video of burqa clad woman throwing the Ganesh idols on the floor in a supermarket went viral on social media. The incident reportedly took place at a supermarket in the Juffair neighbourhood of Middle East country Bahrain's capital Manama.

In the video, one could see two women standing next to an aisle where Hindu God Ganpati idols are being held on display ahead of the upcoming festival 'Ganesh Chaturthi'. One of the women starts to throw the Ganesh idols one by one on the floor, during which the idols are broken to bits while the other woman records the incident on her mobile phone. The woman is heard saying to the man in the shop, "This is a Muslim country, correct?",  and the other woman says, "Let us see who will worship these statues. Call the cops." The video is being widely shared by social media users in India. Here is the video.

Bahrain also has a large number of people from the Indian community and festivals associated with Indian culture are also celebrated. Moreover, a 2010 census found that Hindus comprise 9.8 percent of the population in Bahrain.

The Ministry of Interior also took to its Twitter and tweeted, "Capital Police took legal steps against a woman, 54, for damaging a shop in Juffair and defaming a sect and its rituals, to refer her to the Public Prosecution." Here is the tweet.

The Bahrain Interior Ministry also issued a statement regarding the incident and said, "Concerning a circulated video on social media, the Director-General of Capital Governorate Police announced on Sunday that a woman, 54, was summoned for intentionally damaging a shop in Juffair and breaking religious idols. Legal proceedings are being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution".
