Amid Rising Tensions Back Home, Afghanistan Cricketer Rashid Khan Exhibits Brilliant Show

 - Sakshi Post

Tension is growing in Afghanistan and many people are trying hard to get out of the nation but it has become impossible. The nation is currently completely under the Taliban’s rule. Pictures and videos on social media show a heartbreaking scene. It is only natural that those out of Afghanistan as of now are worried for their loved ones back home.

Among the ones worried for the safety of his loved ones is also spinner Rashid Khan. He is worried about the situation and how his family must be doing back home. The cricketer is trying hard but is not able to get his family out of Afghanistan. Flying out of Kabul is very difficult as Hamid Karzai International (HKI) airport is not operating properly under Taliban rule.

Obviously, Rashid Khan is worried and extremely tensed as of now. He is currently in the UK playing for Trent Rockets in the very first edition of the Hundred. Away from home and concerned for his family, but still Rashid is putting up his top game.

Even when he manages to take an amazing catch and put up a brilliant game, his face just flashes a tiny smile as he shifts his focus to the next ball. Towards the start of his career, Khan had to be away from his family a lot. But he managed everything as it was just the beginning for him and his only aim was to give his 100%.

When you look at the ‘Most wickets taken’ chart of Hundred, you will find Rashid Khan on top. He has managed to maintain the peak form even under immense pressure.

Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen spoke about Khan and his situation. “For him to turn up and put on a performance like this under the pressure that he is currently under... for him to be able to forget that stuff and navigate his story and continue the momentum that he has - I think that's probably one of the most heart-warming stories of this Hundred so far,” he said.

Khan is fully committed to giving his all to the game but his heart is praying for his home country. The cricketer has been posting on social media, urging other nations to help Afghanistan. “Dear World Leaders! My country is in chaos, thousands of innocent people, including children & women, get martyred every day, houses & properties are being destructed. Thousand families displaced.. Don’t leave us in chaos. Stop killing Afghans & destroying Afghanistan,” he wrote on Twitter.

Not just that, he is constantly sharing links to donate to emergency fundraisers that will help provide basic essentials to affected individuals. He urged everyone who can to donate to his foundation, Rashid Khan Fund.

The cricketer’s dedication on-field and passion to help his country, all while being worried for the safety of his own family, is something that tells a really heartbreaking story.
