Winners of BTS V’s Fanmeet Event are Mostly Men

Major firms have been using Korean artists as ambassadors for years, as Indonesia is one of the biggest markets for K-pop. SimInvest, an online trading and investment platform owned by Sinar Mas, one of the biggest conglomerates in Indonesia, is the most recent to follow the pattern. On March 20, 2023, SimInvest revealed Kim Taehyung, a.k.a. V of BTS, as the face of their company.

SimInvest users had the chance to sign up for "SimInvestival Goes to Korea," a chance to be one of the 80 lucky winners who will travel to South Korea to meet Taehyung, between March 23 and May 5. 

On May 7, 80 winners were revealed through Instagram Live, including ten Gold winners and seventy Silver winners. 

The majority of the Gold winners are Indonesian men, breaking the stereotype that male idols only have female followers, according to SimInvest's announcement of the winners who registered for Taehyung's fan meet event.

Taehyung appears to be aware of his appeal to men because he has given them special attention at their concerts. On social media, a few lucky fans who were selected as the Fan Meet Event winners expressed their happiness at winning.
