Review: Tantra

Story:
Rekha (Ananya Nagalla) is a beautiful village girl. Her mother is no more. Rekha's mother Rajyalakshmi (Saloni) died when she was born. While studying in college, she had fun with a lot of her friends. One of them is Teju (Dhanush Raghumudri). The others are Sailu (Kushalini) and a guy (Sharath Barigile). While at home and while going to her college, she sees some powers that no one can see. The whole tribe is frightened.
At night, she sleepwalks to secluded places and is afraid that someone is harassing her with mysterious powers. Finally, she begs a Muslim Baba in her village to protect her from the evil forces that are harassing her. How did Rekha finally get out of the mess? What is her true background? How did her mother die? What kind of a father did Rekha have? What is the relationship between Rekha and Vigati (Temper Vamsi), a magician who performs occult rituals? That's what the film is about.
Analysis:
In the Ramayana, Indrajit, the son of Ravana, was worshiping the occult deity Nikumbala Devi. Lakshmana did not allow him to finish the puja and attacked with an army of monkeys and destroyed the occult puja that he had started. The main plot of 'Tantra' is revealed at the beginning of the movie and the director gives a hint to the audience about the direction of the story right at the outset.
To tell the story interestingly, the director has selected some events into six sections (blood thirst, undercover operation, enemy's arrival, Mahankali in disguise, Vajroli Rathi, and Chinnamastha Devi). All the episodes are centered on these sections and are terrific. The Vajroli Rathi section is particularly superb. The way the episode is shot on Temper Vamsi and Saloni is mind-blowing.
Ananya Nagalla's screen presence is impressive without making the audience feel bored. In the first half, some episodes were shown with tantric teachings, and in the second half, the movie was bloodied with occult rituals. But as some episodes are stretched, the movie feels a bit slow here and there. Also, the climax would have been well-written.
Performances:
Beauty Ananya Nagalla drives the entire film forward. She is impressive in horror and glamour roles. As always, she acts in her own style and impresses the youth. Dhanush Raghumudri, who acted opposite her, impressed the audience.
Temper Vamsi is engrossed in the role of a terrible magician who performs occult rituals and captivates girls. Vamsi, who has played rowdy roles till now, has impressed by playing the role of a magician. After a long time, 'Maryada Ramanna' beauty Saloni acted in a film.
The story is written by director Srinivas Gopishetty and the screenplay is very interesting. The main plots have been written so that the audience does not feel bored anywhere. He also carried the suspense till the end and increased the curiosity of the audience. The background music is the main strength of such horror movies. The music director has done a hundred percent justice to this movie. Editing should have been more gripping. The producers did not compromise anywhere and made the movie with intensity.
