Ranveer Singh Files Police Complaint Over Deepfake Video

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh became the latest celebrity victim of an AI-generated deepfake video. The viral clip featured Ranveer appearing to endorse a political party, voicing fabricated views.

Ranveer promptly complained to the Mumbai Police Cyber Crime Cell. His official spokesperson confirmed an FIR has been filed against the account promoting the fake video.

"We reported to the police, and they've filed a case against the account sharing the fake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh made by AI, the spokesperson stated.

The deepfake used footage from Ranveer's recent Varanasi visit with AI technology manipulating the audio to add a fictional political endorsement. Ranveer had previously warned fans about such deepfakes on social media, writing, "Beware of deepfakes, friends."

Other Bollywood stars like Aamir Khan have also fallen prey to similar AI-powered misinformation campaigns recently. Khan filed a complaint over a deepfake appearing to show him promoting a party, using old footage from his TV show Satyamev Jayate.
