Ilayaraja’s Daughter Bhavatharini Passes Away at 47 in Sri Lanka
Chennai: Popular music composer Ilayaraja’s daughter Bhavatharini Raja passed away after a prolonged illness on Thursday. She took her last breath while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Sri Lanka. She was 47 and is survived by her husband.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Bhavatharini, who was a playback singer, had travelled to the island nation for treatment. Bhavatharini’s family is expecting her body to arrive in Chennai on Friday.
Bhavatharini made her singing debut in Tamil-language masala film Raasaiyya in 1995. She sang the hit song ‘Masthana Masthana’ which was composed by her father.
Taking to X, singer Chinmayi Sripaada has expressed her condolences to the bereaved family. “Bhavatharini Ilayaraja was one of the nicest people I knew. Safe travels, lovely girl. I wish and pray for strength to Raja sir, Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. This is so heartbreaking,” she wrote in her post.
