Here's Why Fans Are Disappointed with Kalki's IPL Promo

The makers of the highly anticipated film 'Kalki 2898 AD' unveiled a surprise promotional video during an IPL match on Wednesday. The clip featured Prabhas in his character Bhairava from the upcoming sci-fi saga. Adorned in his movie attire, Prabhas urged viewers to watch the clash between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3rd.

However, the promo did not receive the expected positive response. Fans criticized Prabhas' gaudy and caricaturish outfit, hairstyle, and appearance. Many found his Hindi dubbing unimpressive. Some even compared the promo unfavorably to the recent criticism of 'Adipurush.'

This reaction comes after the film generated excitement by revealing Amitabh Bachchan's character Ashwatthama. The previous promos had fans anticipating a mind-blowing cinematic experience. But the IPL teaser dampened some of that enthusiasm.

The promotional material for 'Kalki 2898 AD' has been a mixed bag so far. While some promos were well-received, others did not meet expectations. Critics suggest the makers should be more careful, as the film's potential is huge. Poorly executed promos could send the wrong signal about the movie's content.

Many fans also recommended that Prabhas should not dub his own Hindi dialogues. They preferred Sharad Kelkar, who voiced Prabhas' characters in 'Baahubali' and 'Salaar,' as he did a better job.

In the upcoming multilingual sci-fi epic, Prabhas plays the lead role of Bhairava. Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, 'Kalki 2898 AD' blends mythology and science fiction. The film is set to release in theaters on June 27, 2024.
