HBDSam: Samantha’s life is full of twists and successes

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a name that evokes memories of films, controversies, criticisms, and trolling. Her life transcends the realm of cinema, encompassing both joyous moments and what appear to be tragedies. While some are aware of these events, others remain oblivious. As the ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ actress is celebrating her 37th birthday today, let us revisit some of them.

Samantha was born and brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She studied in the city before stepping into the world of modeling. Prior to her film debut, she worked as a hostess at parties and events to earn pocket money. Contrary to popular belief, her first film was not the widely acclaimed 'Ye Maaya Chesave', but rather 'Moscowin Kavery' in Tamil.

Samantha has worked with popular actors like Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, and Pawan Kalyan and soon became one the leading ladies of Telugu film industry. From 2010 to 2019, she gave a number of back-to-back hit films to the industry. Subsequently, her career took a downturn with a series of flops. During this time, she was diagnosed with the rare disease myositis which forced her to take a temporary break from films.

Apart from films, she worked  in OTT projects too. Samantha played an antagonist in the web series called 'Family Man 2'. This web series showed her in a non-glamorous role.  

Interestingly, Samantha's alternate name, Yashoda, is known only to her friends and family members. She even starred in a film titled 'Yashoda'. In 2012, Samantha achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in both Telugu and Tamil, becoming only the second heroine after Revathi to accomplish this.

Beyond her film career, Samantha's personal life has been equally eventful. She married her Ye Maaya Chesave co-actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya in a lavish ceremony in 2017. However, their wedding ended in divorce in 2021. Samantha faced severe criticism for ending the marriage. Some attributed the reason for the divorce to her alleged affair with her personal stylist, however, nobody knows the truth.

Unlike most actresses, Samantha has found herself embroiled in numerous controversies and subjected to relentless trolling. She has founded the NGO 'Pratyusha Support' to aid underprivileged children and women. Samantha's journey began without any background, yet she rose to become a leading actress.
