Another Biopic on Silk Smitha: Chandrika Ravi to Play Queen of Sensuality

Today is sultry actress Silk Smitha’s birthday. Australian-Indian actor and dancer Chandrika Ravi announced a biopic on the 63th birth anniversary of the late actor. 

This is the second film after Vidya Balan’s ‘Dirty Picture’ on the controversial life of Smitha, whose original name was Vijayalakshmi Vadlapatla. 

Chandrika made this announcement on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday. She caption her post with the first look of the movie with “Happy 63rd birthday to the timeless beauty, Silk Smitha. With the blessings of her family, it is with immense gratitude that we share with the world her untold story.”

Jayaram Sankaran’s directorial ‘Silk Smitha:The Untold Story’ will be headlined by Chandrika Ravi. The Aussie actor, who will reprise the role of Silk Smitha, shared the first look of her upcoming movie. She can be seen recreating the iconic pose of Smitha donning a saree, kohl-lined eyes and biting her finger.

The biopic film made on the life of 1980s actor will be released in five languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi next year. Vidya Balan’s 2011 Hindi release ‘Dirty Picture’ failed to reveal unknown facts about the actress.
