Annapoorani Movie Row: Nayanthara Booked for ‘Hurting Religious Sentiments’

 - Sakshi Post

Bhopal: Hindu groups in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur have filed a complaint against Nayanthara alleging that the Tamil actress has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus with her ‘Annapoorani’ movie and she has also attempted to promote ‘Love Jihad’ in this movie.

Based on a complaint, the Omti police station has filed an FIR against Nayanthara. A little known right-wing outfit Hindu Sewa Parishad has also named Annapoorani film director Nilesh Krishnaa, producers Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran, and Netflix India's content head Monika Shergill as accused in its complaint. The actress and the movie team have been charged with promoting enmity among groups on the grounds of religion, and common intent.

Nayanthara-starrer ‘Annapoorani’ movie began streaming on Netflix on December 29. Following an outrage from the Hindu groups, the movie has been pulled from the online streaming platform.
