Upon being questioned regarding husband Raj Kundra’s involvement with pornographic content and business, Shilpa Shetty shared that she has no idea about it. She is not aware of the content shared on the HotShots app.
Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 by the Mumbai Police for his alleged involvement in the production and distribution of adult content through an app. According to Shetty, she did not know much about his business or the app.
In the statement given to the police, Shetty said that she did not know about the content shared on HotShots and the videos being made. She did not like interfering in her husband’s business, so she didn’t ask much. The actor further added that she was not linked to the app in any way. While Kundra was arrested for his alleged involvement in the production and distribution of pornographic content, wife Shilpa Shetty said that it is not the case. What he was making is erotica and not porn.
What is it about?
Mumbai Crime Branch registered a case in February 2021 over the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. The case has been booked for allegedly forcing actors to shoot nude scenes for pornographic films. The police stated that these films were streamed on paid mobile applications. ‘Hotshots’ is the paid streaming app where all the content was shared.
Speaking on the matter, Kundra’s lawyer Abad Ponda added that the police did not make the charges correctly. They registered the case under Section 67 of the IT Act (where bail isn’t allowed) whereas they should have done it under Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code. The content that he produced is openly streamed on OTT platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc, then how is it any different.
