Hyderabad Police Solves Kidnapping Case of Malkajgiri Student within 36 Hours, 3 Held

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police solved an alleged abduction case of a 14-year-old boy in Malkajgiri on Saturday. Briefing the media Malkajgiri DCP Janaki said the motive behind the kidnapping of the boy was to extort Rs 2 crore. She said a minor was found to be involved with the abductors in this case. The police solved the kidnapping case within 36 hours. 

Giving details about the case, the senior police official said the 14-year-old, who is studying in Class VII, was allegedly kidnapped in Malkajgiri on Thursday, January 15. The police officer said the parents got anxious when their son, who was playing outside, did not return home. They approached the Malkajgiri police and filed a missing case. 

Hours later, the parents got a message on WhatsApp asking them to withdraw the kidnap case. DCP Janaki said. The abductors, identified as Ravi and Shiva, were residents of the same colony who had hatched a plan to kidnap the boy for a month. They wanted to take Rs 2 crore ransom from the boy’s parents. 

Malkajgiri police launched an investigation soon after registering a missing person case. The DCP said eight special teams were formed to trace the missing student. With the help of CCTV footage, the police managed to track down the abductors in Ramannagudem of Janagam district and arrested the three accused persons including Ravi and Shiva. The accused have been charged under section 366 of IPC for kidnapping the minor boy. 

The boy’s father Srinivas, who is into the real estate business, thanked the police for rescuing his son from the clutches of kidnappers. He said he could not have imagined that his neighbours would be behind this abduction.
