Fashion Designer, Kin Of COVID Victim Attack Hyderabad's Virinchi hospital For Medical Negligence - Sakshi Post

HYDERABAD: The relatives of a COVID-19 patient who died in a private corporate hospital on May 23 here, created a ruckus for more than an hour and tried to attack the doctors alleging wrong treatment on Thursday.

The victim’s sister Sashi Bhavani Vangapalli a fashion designer and the owner of a premium chain of boutiques in the city called Mugdha Studios came with a group of 15 people including relatives and stormed into Virinchi Hospital in Banjara Hills alleging wrong treatment, negligence which she said led to his death and fudging of his death report. They blamed Dr G Dileep, for Vamshi Krishna's (36), death, who was a soft engineer in AMD as stated by Sashi in a video and she demanded that his licence to practice be scrapped.

The group tried to force their way into the doctor's cabin and even as the hospital employees and security tried to ward them off, and she started screaming and asked as to why he was given high doses of steroids, why was he given medication for cancer and depression when his HRCT report was merely 10/25 which is moderate,” she asked.“He was not breathless and he did not have fever for 10 days as mentioned in the report. The hospital is shielding the doctor,” said a relative. According to hospital records, Vamsi Krishna was admitted on May 9 and died on May 22. The family, however, produced documents that showed that the death report described Vamshi as a woman and said that he was admitted on May 14 with a complaint of breathlessness.

The police who waited patiently and tried to convince them had to finally arrest them after things went out of hand and they tried to cause damage to the furniture. The whole episode was live-streamed and the media channels were quick to relay the incident. A popular media channel even wrongly scrolled that she was a doctor which is why she was able to figure out what happened.

The emotionally charged sister of the victim Sashi while speaking to the media, was seen stating the facts of the alleged medical negligence by the doctor. She even went to say that as a last-minute effort they sent people to Krishnapatnam in Nellore within six hours to get Anandaiah's medicine and put few drops in the victim's eyes and there was an improvement in his pulse rate which went from 70 to 90. The lady actually went on to say that Anandaiah's ayurvedic medicine works.

She also alleged that they were told not to pay the amount for the balance of three to four days of treatment and that the amount paid to Dr Dileep was transferred to another Doctor only to save him. The whole episode flared up after five days of the victim's death and the relatives of the victim claim that the botch up in reports and reduction in hospital charges were to hide the negligence of the hospital. It is pertinent to note that the family returned to the hospital demanding an explanation for his death after they had spoken to a few doctors who reportedly went through the medical files and treatment and alleged that it was due to medical negligence by the doctors.
