IPL 2021: Jolt To SRH As Muttaiah Muralitharan Hospitalised
IPL 2021 season 14 is progressing well. In a major blow to the SRH team, legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan has been admitted to Apollo hospital in Chennai. He underwent angioplasty at the hospital. The 49-year-old is a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad coaching staff currently based in Chennai for IPL-14.
According to reports, "A blockage was detected at the end of March. So angioplasty was a routine procedure that was supposed to be conducted. He is doing well." Muralitharan is expected to rejoin the team after completing the treatment.
Muralitharan is the leading wicket-taker in International cricket with 1347 scalps. He took 800 wickets in 133 Test matches and 534 wickets in 350 One-Day Internationals. He has 13 wickets from 12 T20Is. He was also part of Sri Lanka's ODI World Cup triumph in 1996.
It is said that Muralitharan will have to undergo a seven-day quarantine before he is allowed to enter the SRH squad bio bubble for the remainder of the IPL season. After the SRH completes its matches at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the team members will be flying to New Delhi.
