As per the WHO, based on existing limited information, Omicron appears to have a growth advantage over Delta, although it's unclear if Omicron's reported high growth rate is due to immune evasion, inherent greater transmissibility, or both. It also said that preliminary research indicated a decrease in vaccination effectiveness against Omicron infection and transmission.
