Viveka Case: SC Defers Hearing Plea Challenging Anticipatory Bail to Avinash Reddy

 - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday deferred to June 19 its hearing on the SLP challenging the anticipatory bail to Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy.

The vacation bench of the apex court heard the plea filed by Suneetha Nareddy in which the petitioner had challenged the anticipatory bail granted to Avinash in connection with the case registered against him in the Viveka murder case.

Suneetha Reddy informed the bench that Avinash Reddy was not cooperating with the CBI in their investigation and therefore they need his custodial investigation. Hearing the matter, Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah said it is for the CBI, which is probing the case, to say if Avinash was not cooperating with the investigators.

Suneetha had urged the court to issue notice on her plea challenging the Telangana High Court’s May 31 order granting anticipatory bail to Kadapa MP. She had also sought cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Avinash Reddy by the state high court.

The special vacation bench of the High Court granted anticipatory bail to Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy on May 31. The high court had taken up the hearing after the Supreme Court had expressed displeasure over the delay in deciding Avinash Reddy's anticipatory bail petition.
