TTD Launches Aggarbatti Brand Made With Dry Flower Technology

TIRUMALA: The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) near here, rolled out new incense sticks on Monday with the inauguration of a new Agarbatti Manufacturing Unit being opened at the SV Go Samrakshanashala.

The unique unit was opened by the TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy along with the TTD EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy. Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Sulurpeta MLA Sanjeevaiah also participated in the event.

A pact with YSR Horticultural University for providing dry flower technology to TTD was also signed as part of this new initiative. The Registrar of the YSR Horticultural University Dr Gopal, TTD Dy EO (general) Ramana Prasad signed the MoU which the TTD Chairman and Vice-chancellor Dr T Janakiram exchanged.

Speaking on the occasion the TTD Chairman said the incense sticks were made from used flower garlands of all TTD temples and shall be available to devotees from Monday onwards at Tirumala. He said in all 10 machines produce 3.5 lakh agarbattis daily in seven brands which were sold at Tirumala laddu counters and Tirupati. The Chairman also clarified that the flowers used in the Srivari main temple will not be used in making these incense sticks.

As part of the technology, women are trained at the Citrus Research Station of the University at Tirupati and TTD is funding Rs 83 lakhs towards equipment and training. TTD executive officer KS Jawahar Reddy and its chairman YV Subba Reddy commenced the sale of the sticks that come in two types costing Rs 45 and Rs 85, he said. (Image, Information Source TTD News)
