Telangana BJP Says No, Andhra BJP Says Yes to Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena
Eluru: The opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh have become a political potpourri of sorts. The state BJP chief Purandeswari Daggubati has reiterated that Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party (JSP) is in alliance with the saffron party while Pawan Kalyan has also entered into a pre-poll pact with the Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Purandeswari made these remarks during her visit to Jangareddygudem of Eluru district on Saturday. Speaking to reporters after addressing a district-level party workers meeting at Dandamudi village, she clarified that the BJP’s central leadership will decide on the party’s alliance partners in the state.
In Andhra Pradesh, Purandeswari is keen on contesting upcoming assembly elections with Jana Sena while the Telangana BJP seems to have parted ways with the Pawan Kalyan’s party. The saffron party had tied up with Jana Sena for the Telangana assembly elections and had allotted 8 seats for the party. However, the party faced humiliating defeat in the assembly polls. Taking notice of Jana Sena Party’s dismal performance, the Telangana BJP chief Kishan Reddy indicated that the saffron party will fight solo in the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
It seems Purandeswari is not on the same page as she’s still banking on the ‘power star’s’ charisma to sway the electorate in the AP assembly elections. The BJP leader might not have looked into the performance of Jana Sena in the neighbouring state polls.
Recently, the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took a jibe at Pawan Kalyan’s party. Referring to the poor performance of his party’s candidates in Telangana elections, YS Jagan said 'Barrelakka' Sirisha, the Telangana 'Sister', an independent candidate from Kollapur seat got more votes than Jana Sena candidates in her constituency.
