TDP’s Bonda’s Affidavit Contains Only Lies: Vellampalli
In a blistering attack on ex-TDP MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, former minister and YSRCP leader Vellampalli Srinivas Rao said the latter's election affidavit contains incorrect information. He said the TDP leader had misled the Election Commission officials during the nomination process for the 2014 assembly elections too.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Srinivas said the ruling party had lodged three complaints against Bonda. He said no action was taken on their first report pertaining to the bogus votes. He said during the 2014 elections, the TDP leader filed an election affidavit mentioning his house address from the East constituency. He used the same address in the 2019 affidavit too. However, Bonda's 2024 poll affidavit mentions Ajit Singh Nagar as his residential address, while the fact is the indicated address is of the TDP party office. "How can the TDP leader mislead the EC officials with incorrect information in the nomination affidavit?" Srinivas asked.
The YSRCP leader said Bonda was responsible for the deletion of the party's votes in the past. Claiming to have proof, Srinivas said the TDP candidate had given incorrect details in his affidavit, and therefore, he should be declared ineligible to contest the May 13 elections. He also said if the Commission does not take appropriate action on his complaint, then he would wage a legal battle in the case.
Terming Bonda as an economic offender, Srinivas said the TDP leader had evaded income tax of Rs 2,54,97,000. He added that Bonda had knowingly avoided mentioning the cases filed against him in 2014 and 2019 in the latest election affidavit.
