Tadipatri Urban: Enraged TDP leader JC Prabhakar Reddy challenged the police to arrest him while staging a protest outside the police station in Tadipatri on Thursday. Tension prevailed in the area when the former MLA and Tadipatri municipal chairman demanded the removal of YSRCP flags from the electrical poles along the CB Road in the town.

Using provocative language, he lay in the road and dared police to take him into custody. As Reddy was unrelenting in his protest, the police bundled him in their van and dropped him off at a city hospital.

Two days ago, TDP leader JC Prabhakar Reddy had sought permission from the municipal commissioner to install decorative lighting on poles along CB Road to beautify the town. Subsequently , he and municipal staff attempted to put up the lights by removing the flags and buntings of YSRCP. When the YSRCP workers learnt about it, they rushed to the place and objected to the removal of party flags from the electric pole. Upset by this, Reddy and his supporters staged a sit-in protest on the roadside leading to traffic jams in the area.

Meanwhile, the police have booked a case against the TDP leader and three other persons under Section 30 of the Police Act for their misconduct towards police, including verbal abuse.
