TDP Govt Left Behind Massive Debts, Liabilities for AP: Kurasala

 - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: Minister for Agriculture Kurasala Kannababu has clarified that the State government went for borrowing to provide promised welfare benefits to the public during Covid-19, unlike the previous government who left a debt of Rs 1,50,000 crore by using for personal needs under the name of public welfare. Speaking to media here on Tuesday, he mentioned that the government gave priority to welfare over development and pumped money to revive the state economy and stand by the weaker sections during the pandemic crisis. The Minister asserted that the State government did not hold back any welfare schemes despite a decline in State revenue, as Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy clearly wanted the government to stand by the people in such tough times. He said that the government had spent Rs 1,30,000 crore through various schemes for the public welfare in the last two years, where the financial aid was done directly through DBT, without any brokerage system.

The Minister said the state was in revenue deficit after bifurcation and criticised Naidu for pushing the State into further debt. He stated that the TDP leaders have misused over Rs 68,000 crore in the name of capital expenditure for all those incomplete projects. He slammed TDP leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Nara Lokesh for their false propaganda against the government alleging that the State finances are running into debts and stated that the entire propaganda is to divert people's minds. He said that the entire state had witnessed how the previous government managed the finances in their five-year term and challenged them to reveal what welfare schemes they spent Rs 1,50,000 crore.

Minister Kannababu said that all the borrowings are for public welfare, to stand by them in the tough times without holding back any welfare initiative and delivering with zero corruption. He said that the previous government had betrayed the public with all fake promises and further proliferated corruption in every village through the Janmabhoomi Committees. Further, the Minister flayed Chandrababu Naidu for abandoning the State during the Covid crisis, staying in the neighboring state, and misleading people through zoom meetings.
