Vijayawada: As the Amaravati farmers movement turned four years old this year, the Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi (APS) has decided to hold a massive public meeting at Bible Mission Grounds here on Dec 17, 2023. The office-bearers of the farmers movement have invited the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan as chief guests.

In the wake of the upcoming public meeting inviting Naidu as the chief guest, once the strong supporter of TDP,  now turned fierce critic and the senior advocate Jada Sravan Kumar has said Naidu is squarely responsible for destroying Amaravati. He also said people should not believe Naidu if he talks about the development of the Amaravati capital region.

The rebel TDP leader said the poor farmers had given their land to the state government under the land pooling scheme to build a new capital state for Andhra Pradesh but the Naidu government cheated the peasants.

Under the land pooling scheme (LPS) launched in December 2014, the TDP government had acquired over 34,000 acres of land in 29 villages from 28,000 farmers with the promise to construct a world-class capital city. Sravan said the TDP regime did not build the capital city but destroyed the lives of poor farmers.

Challenging the TDP on the discussion of Amaravati issue, Sravan said the opposition party allegedly lacks values and credibility. He also said Naidu pushed the farmers of Amaravati into poverty with his hasty decisions.

Accusing the TDP leaders of engaging in political prostitution, the noted lawyer criticised the TDP scion Nara Lokesh for prioritising money over values. He questioned why the TDP leadership allowed Undavalli Sridevi to share the stage with the TDP leaders. It’s worth mentioning here that the Dalit MLA Sridevi was suspended from the ruling YSRCP after she was found cross-voting in the Legislative Council elections from MLA quota and helped the TDP win of the seven Council seats.
