Shamim Aslam Takes Charge As New Chairperson of AP Mineral Development Corporation  - Sakshi Post

VIJAYAWADA: Shamim Aslam took charge as the chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) on Monday. APMDC officials accorded a warm welcome to Shamim Aslam who reached the APMDC office in Vijayawada.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, she thanked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for this opportunity and said that he had entrusted such key responsibilities to women as part of his efforts for our empowerment in the state and for its development. The chairperson said that she would work in conjunction with and support of the State Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Mines and Geology Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Rajampet YSRCP MP PV Midhun Reddy and take up the development of APMDC to greater heights in the future.

Speaking further, she said the state of Andhra Pradesh has vast mineral resources which needed to be utilized properly, provide an impetus for industrial development and employment opportunities to the youth. Shamim  Aslam said that the Chief Minister had placed this responsibility on her with great confidence and would do her best to uphold it and make APMDC an ideal public sector undertaking in the state. APMDC is already making significant strides in mineral development in the state and has made a mark by achieving a good market for our minerals internationally, she said. She said that all possible steps would be taken to ensure revenue generation to the government through mineral wealth and also for the establishment of new industries in the state.

In meeting with the APMDC office staff she called for them to utilize her experience as a public representative for the betterment of the company, to make the organization available to the government in all possible ways, and to work together to take the company forward by harmonizing the environment, the needs of the people and ensure industrial opportunities. The event was attended by APMDC Joint Director D Srinivasa Rao, Company Secretary R Manikiran, General Manager (Marketing) SVC Bose, General Manager (Coal) Lakshmana Rao, VC & MD OSD Srivenkata Sai, DGM (Geology) Nathaniel, DGM (Civil) Srinivasa Murthy, DGM (HRD) P. Satyanarayanamma, DGM (CSR) Rajaramesh, F&A Devi Manga and others participated.

The government had announced the chairmen posts of 135 Corporations in the state. Shamim is the only person from the Chittoor district who was given a state-level chairman post. Hailing from a humble background, Shamim entered politics thirty years ago as a Congress activist and rose to the position of a state-level corporation chairman. She was elected five times as municipal councilor.
