AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said that a total of 3,57,51,612 people have been benefited in the state upto May 20th from the various welfare schemes since the formation of his government. About Rs 40,139 crores have been expended by his government to reach the benefits to the people, he said while asserting that this would have probably been the only instance where funds were spent on such a large scale to implement welfare schemes in such a historic manner.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister presided over a brain-storming conference named ‘Mana Paalana-Mee Suchana’ (Our Governance and Your Advice) spanning over a few days at his camp office in Tadepalli on Monday. The special conference, comprising experts from various fields, will hold brain-storming sessions to deliberate on a wide gamut of aspects including the welfare programmes implemented by the YSRCP government in its one-year rule, the wide range of schemes, reforms brought about in various sectors and the initiatives to be taken up in future. As part of the inaugural session, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had an extensive interaction with experts and beneficiaries on the topic of ‘Governance and Welfare’.
Speaking on this occasion, YS Jagan commented: “Today, I can proudly say that I treat the election manifesto as a Bible, Khuran and Bhagavadgita.” Stating that the YSRCP election manifesto is visible on the walls in the offices of every officer, minister and including his chambers, he expressed contentment that they were able to fulfill 90 per cent of the promises mentioned in the manifesto within the very first year itself. He said that his government could accomplish 98-99 per cent of it this year with an added spring in the stride.
In a key observation, the Andhra Pradesh chief minister described the village volunteers and village secretariats as the ‘pillars’ of ‘Governance and Welfare’. Stating that corruption should be allowed t sneak into the village volunteer and secretary system, he exhorted everyone to work towards its strengthening.
The chief minister also held an interaction with the staff of village and ward secretariats, beneficiaries and experts. On this occasion, YS Jagan launched an app meant for educating the village and ward volunteers. He said: “The institution of village and ward secretariats originated from the concept that welfare and developmental programmes should be implemented with a scope for any discrimination. I always yearned that the fruits of these schemes should be extended to even those who did not vote for me in the last elections. Your words will be an inspiration for me. I look forward to work even harder.”
