Qatar: APNRTS Rescue Telugu Maids From False Theft Case, Repatriated

 - Sakshi Post

Two maids working in Qatar safely were rescued from a false theft case and returned home thanks to the initiative of the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS).

APNRTS Director BH Iliyas disclosed the details to the media on Monday. Kakireni Gangadevi from Akkayapalle in YSR Kadapa district and Ganga Bhavani from Kotanandur mandal in East Godavari district had gone to work as domestic workers in Qatar last year. There their sponsor (Seth) started harassing them and unable to bear the burden they requested him to send them back to India. Instead, he falsely implicated them in a theft case and put them in jail. The matter came to the notice of APNRTS  Qatar Co-ordinator Manish. He immediately contacted the Qatar Judicial officers and said that a false case of theft had been registered against Gangadevi and Ganga Bhavani and requested that they be sent back to India. The Qatar judiciary after investigation acquitted and ordered them to be sent to India.

APNRTS members Manish and Rajani Murthy spoke to Indian embassy officials where the victims were handed over temporary passports and tickets and repatriated on the 25th of this month. Qatar Telugu Kala Samithi General Secretary Durga Bhavani gave them monetary assistance for them to travel back to their native places from the Hyderabad airport. The victims thanked APNRTS for saving them from the ordeal in Qatar and sending them back home safely.
