Pawan Kalyan to Contest from Pithapuram, Avoids Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka
After weeks of suspense and speculation over the assembly constituency for Jana Sena Party leader, Pawan Kalyan on Thursday announced that he would contest from Pithapuram Assembly segment in the forthcoming AP Assembly elections.
He made this announcement during a party meeting today. However, the actor-turned-politician has not clarified whether he will contest the Lok Sabha elections or not. He said he will take a call on fighting Lok Sabha polls after discussing it with the party elders.
Pawan Kalyan had contested from Bhimavaram constituency in West Godavari district and Gajuwaka constituency in Visakhapatnam district in the 2019 Assembly elections. However, the electoral debut turned out to be disastrous. He was defeated by the YSRCP candidates in both the constituencies.
It is reported that Pawan did not want to fight elections from tried and tested Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka constituencies. Political analysts opine that the Jana Sena leader took this decision after considering the survey results of all the three assembly constituencies. According to the survey report, Pithapuram seat is also not favourable to him, however, the Jana Sena leader thinks it is the safest seat which will help him in achieving his goal of entering the Andhra Pradesh assembly.
