NACIN Campus in AP: CM YS Jagan Thanks PM Modi

Palasamudram (Sri Satya Sai Dist): Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing the second campus of the NACIN (National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics) in one of the most backward districts of the State. Addressing the guests at the sprawling NACIN campus on Tuesday before its formal inauguration by the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the preeminent institution would attain national and international fame, bringing laurels to the State.

Stating that he was privileged to be part of the inauguration, he highlighted that the world-class and state-of-the-art NACIN’s second campus would provide comprehensive training to officers in Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics. The Chief Minister acknowledged the efforts of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in establishing this prestigious academy and thanked her for her support in the State's development.

In her brief address, Nirmala Sitharaman thanked the Chief Minister for allocating 500 acres for establishing the academy, which was established by the Centre as part of the State bifurcation package. Governor Justice (Rtd) S. Abdul Nazeer also participated in the inaugural function. While the first campus of NACIN in Faridabad provides training to IRS revenue and customs officers, the second campus established along the national highway at Palasamudram in Gorantla mandal will train IRS and Group-1 officers of Andhra Pradesh and other states in GST (Goods and Services Tax) matters, besides providing refresher courses for corporate-sponsored candidates in taxation matters.

Union Finance Ministers of State Pankaj Choudhary and Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad also participated in the program. At the NACIN helipad, the Prime Minister was received by the Governor and Chief Minister. On arrival at the Palasamudram helipad, the Chief Minister was welcomed by several Ministers and senior officials. Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayana Swamy, Hindupuram MP G. Madhav, Puttaparti MLA D. Sridhar Reddy, senior officials, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust member J. Ratnakar, and local people’s representatives extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister on his arrival at the Puttaparthi airport earlier.
