AP Tourism Manager Brutally Assaults Woman For Asking Him To Wear Face Mask
NELLORE: A differently-abled woman employee working in a hotel of AP Tourism department was brutally assaulted by a manager for the simple reason that she advised him to wear a face mask. The shocking incident, which happened in Dargamitta of Nellore city on Saturday, came to light on Tuesday after a video of the manager's act of brutality against the physically challenged woman went viral.
Even as the video evoked widespread condemnation, the police swung into action and arrested the manager C Bhaskar. The horrifying incident, which was captured by the CCTV camera in the office, vividly showed Bhaskar's furious onslaught against Usharani, the differently abled woman employee. In the video, accused Bhaskar was clearly seen charging at the woman before dragging her off her chair and raining punches repeatedly on her face, head and on the back.
Bhaskar was unstoppable even as shocked colleagues of Usharani -- Swarnalatha, Hymavathi and Narasimha Rao -- tried in vain to rescue the hapless woman. Besides her colleagues, another man was also seen trying his best to stop the brutal offensive of the deputy manager. Following the incident, the victim had lodged a complaint at Dargamitta Police Station against her manager. The woman, accompanied by her other colleagues, handed over the CCTV footage to the police.
The woman told the police that the manager had developed grudge against her, after she, along with her husband Veeragandham, reprimanded the manager for spreading rumours against her.
Based on her complaint, the police registered a case against him pressing charges under multiple sections of the law before arresting him. An investigation is going on in the case.
Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma strongly condemned the deputy manager's attack on the woman employee. She went to Nellore on Tuesday and consoled the woman.
Speaking to the media over the issue, Vasireddy Padma asserted that any kind of atrocities against women would not be tolerated, The state government has also takene a serious view on the heinous act and immediately placed the ill-tempered official under suspension.
Vasireddy Padma promised that stern action would be taken against anyone who targets women for their assaults or commit sexual offences against them.
This is shocking. An employee of Andhra Pradesh tourism department beat up a lady worker with an iron rod in Nellore district. Don't know what was the reason, but it doesn't matter. Strict action against this man is required.@dgpapofficial@AndhraPradeshCM@ysjagan pic.twitter.com/tI21fvI5hp
