January Roundup: Andhra Pradesh Towers in Social Justice

Amaravati: The month saw Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurating the world’s tallest statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in Vijayawada asserting that it was manifestation of social justice besides calling the bluff of the opposition and giving a clarion call to the people to vote YSRCP back to power in the ensuing elections. 

During his power-packed speech at the YSRCP’s inaugural poll campaign meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the failures of TDP and Jana Sena while listing out the Government’s achievements in the last 56 months.  

He also unveiled a road map to be followed by YSRCP cadre in the next two months to make a clean sweep in the ensuing elections by spreading the message of social justice and good done to the people through slew of welfare schemes. 

During the month, the Chief Minister also completed election promises made to self-help groups while cautioning people that the slew of welfare schemes would continue only if he continues to lead the State.

Keeping date with the welfare calendar, he released Rs. 6394.83crore under YSR Aasara benefiting 78,94,169 women members of 7,98,395 self-help groups taking the total cleared bank loans to Rs.25,571 crore kept pending during the TDP rule.

He also released Rs. 431 crore for Jagananna Thodu benefiting 3,95,000 small and marginal street vendors and artisans, Rs.97 crore as bi-annual disbursal of financial assistance benefitting 68,990 left over beneficiaries and Rs.46.90crore towards reimbursement of interest for 4,07,323 beneficiaries who have availed bank loans under Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu. 

The month further witnessed the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) clearing fresh investments worth Rs. 22,302 crore for establishing energy industries that would provide 5300 jobs.

The Chief Minister shared dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of NACIN (National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics) campus in Sri Satya Sai district, participated in India Today Education Summit (ITES) at Tirupati and also called on former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao for enquiring about his health.

In his interactive session at the ITES, the Chief Minister stressed on his viewpoint that quality education only can eradicate poverty while, in his public meetings, he made it clear that the welfare schemes would be dispensed with if the opposition comes to power. 

On the development front, he launched 300 new 4G mobile towers of AirTel and Reliance Jio in remote tribal areas of the State, taking the number of towers in remote areas to 400.

The Chief Minister also continued his focus on health and educational sectors asking the officials to launch awareness campaign on using free medical services under YSR Aarogyasri and expedite steps for including the future skills training programme in school curriculum besides making the second phase of Jagananna Arogya Suraksha successful. 

The Chief Minister, along with his wife YS Bharathi Reddy, celebrated Sankranti with festive spirit and attended the engagement function of his sister YS Sharmila’s son YS Raja Reddy. Among the most prominent persons who called on the Chief Minister during the month included Arun Halder, Vice-Chairman of National SC Commission.
