Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan in Dilemma After Meeting Naidu
Hyderabad: Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan recently held talks over the seat-sharing formula with the alliance partner and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad. This is the second meeting between the leaders of TDP-JanaSena combine after Naidu walked out on bail in the skill development scam case.
The details of the meeting were not shared publicly, however, it is learnt that both the leaders discussed common minimum programme (CMP) and mini manifesto for the forthcoming assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.
It is being reported that Jana Sena leader also discussed the seat-sharing formula with the opposition leader Naidu. Pawan Kalyan is learnt to have pushed for 50 seats for his party members in the coming elections and also conveyed his decision to field party candidates in North Andhra districts where his party might make a difference in the upcoming polls.
As per the reports, Naidu is in no mood to offer more than 25 seats to Jana Sena to contest the assembly polls. He also indicated that the TDP might allow the Jana Sena leader to field their candidates in the agreed upon regions only if the ally breaks its relationship with the BJP. The TDP leader is learnt to have stated that the political equation was different when he was lodged in Rajamahendravaram jail and now the TDP is comparatively in a good stead.
The former chief minister has reportedly asked Pawan Kalyan to share the list of its assembly ticket aspirants beforehand and clarified that he reserves the right to finalise these candidates. He has also reportedly said that the pre-poll pact will remain intact only if Pawan Kalyan agrees to the TDP’s demands.
The latest conditions forwarded by the alliance partner seems to have put the Jana Sena president in a difficult position. Pawan Kalyan seems to be weighing the pros and cons of continuing the electoral alliance with the TDP. With the likelihood of BJP returning to power at the Centre in the next General elections, Jana Sena leader is caught in a bind. It remains to be seen if he agrees to the demands of the TDP ally and walks out of NDA's alliance.
