Internal Complaints Committees For Women Safety In Educational Institutions: Vasireddy Padma
RAJAHMUNDRY: Vasireddy Padma, Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission said that an Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) would be set up in all educational institutions and offices to address the issues of women and students safety and protection.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday at Rajahmundry, she said that the Commission was working with steadfastness to empower women and ensure that they are financially stable and also to protect them. The TDP, which is unable to see the welfare schemes provided for women, is getting on the offensive and attacking the government unnecessarily, she alleged. The Chairperson further stated that the APWC was resolving the complaints of women from time to time.
The Chairperson hailed Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who was implementing various welfare schemes for the betterment of women without seeing them as a vote bank. She said that high priority to the economic and political advancement of women in AP. Women are expressing confidence that they have been standing on their own feet in the past two and a half years. Welfare Schemes like YSR Asara, Amma Vodi and YSR Cheyuta were contributing to the welfare of women in the State. She commented that the situation in Andhra Pradesh has deteriorated to the point that women were being abused in the name of politics.
She also expressed anguish that a woman Home Minister was being abused. It was most unfortunate that the Opposition was speaking in such an insulting manner against a woman, Vasireddy Padma said.
She lauded Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving women a place in various government posts, party posts, and nominated posts. She warned that there was no point in criticizing the Chief Minister who was focused on empowering women and that in the past no government had given as much priority to women as he had, she praised. All parties should also accept the fact that 50 percent reservation for women should be given and it was not right on their part to criticize them for not doing so, Padma said. Commission members Sayuja, RUDA chairperson Medapati Sharmila Reddy, Marti Lakshmi, and Dr. Anapuri Padmalata were present at the meeting.
