Interim Budget 2024: Know the Budgetary Allocations for Railway Development in Telugu States

New Delhi: As it was an interim budget, a provisional financial plan for the outgoing government, therefore nothing concrete was expected from it for the Telugu states — Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Meanwhile, Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw provided the details about the railway budgetary allocation for Telugu states in the interim budget 2024 which was presented by the Finance minister Nirmala Sitharama in the parliament on Thursday, February 1.
Railway Budgetary Allocation for Telangana
Giving details, Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Centre has announced Rs 5,071 crore budgetary allocation for the development of railways in Telangana. He said Rs 2,420 crore was allocated in 2021-22 and the allocation has been doubled in the interim budget. He informed that the railways department has completed 100 percent electrification works in Telangana. He also stated that last year PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for setting up a railway wagon manufacturing unit in Kazipet which will be developed at a cost of over Rs 500 crore.

Railway Budgetary Allocation for Andhra Pradesh
Railway minister said that the railway budget of Rs 9,318 crore has been allocated for developing railway infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. He said between 2009 and 2014, the Centre had allocated a railway budget of Rs 888 crore to undivided Andhra Pradesh and the present budgetary allocation is a ten-fold increase for the state railways. He added that 98 percent electrification works have been completed in the state.
