Heavy Rain Lashes Tirupati as Andhra Continues to Reel Under Severe Heatwave
Tirupati: Heavy rains lashed the temple town Tirupati on Thursday even as parts of Andhra Pradesh continue to reel under sweltering summer heat for the past few days. The sudden showers brought the temperature down giving respite to the city residents from the rising mercury level.
The downpour led to waterlogging in several areas in and around the hill shrine causing inconvenience to the devotees who were standing in lines for darshan.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre predicted a thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and South Coastal areas during the next 48 hours.
However, Rayalaseema will likely have dry weather on May 19. The region may experience a rise in mercury level by 2-4 degree Celsius from Friday to next Monday.
