Former TDP Minister Akhila Priya Arrested for Nandyal Clashes

 - Sakshi Post

Kurnool: The Nandyal police on Wednesday arrested former minister Bhuma Akhila Priya in connection with the Tuesday night attack on party leader AV Subba Reddy, who was the former chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Rural Irrigation Corporation. The TDP leader Akhila Priya was booked under section 307 of the IPC. Meanwhile, Reddy has received injuries to his nose. He is currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Nandyal.

After a preliminary probe, the police arrested Akhila Priya and her supporters. The police are also examining the CCTV footage of the area. Both the TDP leaders Bhuma Akhila Priya and AV Subba Reddy had organised separate programmes at Kothapalli village in Nandyal mandal to welcome Nara Lokesh’s Yuva Galam Yatra on Tuesday night.

As both the leaders were preparing to welcome Nara Lokesh, an altercation took place between the groups which led to the attack on AV Subba Reddy. The altercation soon escalated into a full blown clash between the supporters of TDP. The police were called in to bring the situation under control. Later, Reddy filed a complaint against the Telugu Desam leader and her husband.

Meanwhile, the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has taken cognisance of the issue and formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter. He is apparently angry with the Nandyal party leaders for creating chaos during Nara Lokesh’s yatra.

It is a known fact that the two leaders are at loggerheads since the passing away of Bhuma Nagi Reddy. The TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu attempted to make peace between them but in vain as both the leaders continued to resort to acts against each other.
