Explosion at Firecracker Godown Kills 3 in Tirupati
Tirupati: Three people were killed and two others sustained injuries when an explosion ripped through a firecracker godown in Ellakattava village of Varadaiyapalem mandal in Tirupati on Wednesday. The injured include Veeraiah, who is the owner of the godown.
The blast took place while the labourers were inside the warehouse. The injured people have been transferred to Ruya hospital for further treatment. The godown was soon engulfed in the huge flames and the fire brigade had to be called to extinguish the fire.
The deceased were identified as Nagendra (26), Shankaraiah (56) and Edukondalu (41) and the injured persons were Kalyan (22) and Veeraiah (48). The police have shifted the bodies to morgue for post-mortem and a registered a case and investigation is underway.
