Eluru Municipal Corporation: Mayor Shaik Noorjahan Takes Charge For The 2nd Time
ELURU: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate Shaik Noorjahan has been elected as Eluru Municipal Corporation Mayor for the second time. She will take charge on July 30.
The YSRCP won the Municipal elections in a clean sweep where it bagged 47 out of the 50 wards.Noorjahan, won with a majority of 1,495 votes against her rival and TDP candidate Mantri Lakshmi.

Noorjahan entered into politics in 2014, and along with her husband SMR Pedababu (Rehman) joined the YSRCP in 2019. She earlier contested in the municipal elections and was elected as Mayor in the same year.
Noorjahan thanked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas for giving her an opportunity to serve as the Mayor for the second time and promised to continue her services to develop the town. According to the reservation, the post of Eluru mayor has been allotted to a woman under the general category. The YSRCP finalized the name of former mayor Shaik Noorjahan as its mayoral candidate. Along with her G. Srinivasa Rao and N. Sudhir Babu will take charge as the deputy mayors.
