Dissent Brews in Jana Sena: Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah
West Godavari dt: Amid the turmoil in Jana Sena Party (JSP) over the pre-poll tie up with the TDP, former MP and Kapu leader Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah lamented that the rift between Jana Sena cadre and its leader Pawan Kalyan is widening. In a scathing statement released on Saturday in Palakollu, West Godavari district, the senior Kapu leader alleged that the party chief "Pawan wants votes, while Jana Sena leaders are vying for power."
Jogaiah's comments highlight a growing internal conflict within Jana Sena. The former MP emphasised that the party chief and the party cadre are apparently not on the same page. ‘While Pawan asserts that securing power through elections is crucial, party leaders argue that public support depends solely on the belief in attaining power. The party leaders are wondering how Pawan can achieve his stated goal of public welfare without first acquiring political power.’
Noting that opinion polls suggested Pawan Kalyan's limited influence in the Telangana elections, the Kapu leader said his recent alliance with the BJP is seen as a bold attempt to prove his mettle. He added that Pawan Kalyan will likely contest a significant number of seats (at least 60) in next assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. It's no longer Jana Sena supporting TDP but the other way around and the JanaSena-TDP combine will come to power within the next three months, the senior Kapur leader added.
