Electoral Alliance Drama: TDP and Jana Sena Yet to Finalize Candidate List

Amaravati: Deception is the hallmark of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The TDP contested the 2014 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan supported the party.

Naidu had made nearly 600 poll promises to the voters before the elections. After coming to power in the state, he realised that promises were unimplementable and following the pressure from the people to fulfil the promises, the TDP had quietly taken down the manifesto from the party’s website. The party deceived the farmers and DWCRA women who had high hopes from the TDP government but their hopes were shattered by the then-state government.

Pawan Kalyan loses no opportunity to make critical remarks against the YSRCP government. However, he maintained a stoic silence when Naidu’s party withdrew the poll manifesto and deceived the people of the state. He did not raise his voice against the then-Naidu government and silently watched the injustice meted out to the voters.

Both the leaders have once again joined hands to fight the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. During a public meeting on the second day of Mahanadu, Naidu announced the first part of the election manifesto called ‘Bhavishyattu Ki Guarantee’. The TDP declared six schemes for women, farmers, BCs BCs and the youth.

TDP and Jana Sena Party leaders had announced the electoral alliance while Naidu was arrested and lodged in Rajamahendravaram prison in connection with the AP Skill Development scam case. However, the TDP-JanaSena combine is yet to announce the names of its candidates for the ensuing elections. As an electoral alliance dharma, Jana Sena is expecting more seats, however, Naidu may not give more than 15 seats to Pawan’s party. The electoral alliance partners have agreed to jointly announce the list of candidates for the elections. It is being said that instead of Pawan Kalyan, Naidu may decide the candidates on behalf of the Jana Sena party.
