Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana has demanded TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu to clarify his position on privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant as the latter prepares to attend an election rally in the region on Sunday.

Botsa asserted that the TDP chief should seek votes only after making his stand clear on the contentious issue.

"Chandrababu Naidu should explain his stand on the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant before embarking on a visit to Gajuwaka tomorrow. If he fails to do it, the people should stop his convoy from entering the city," Botsa said while addressing the media here on Saturday. The minister accused Naidu of indulging in a "steel plant drama" and urged people to hold him accountable.

The YSRCP minister warned that voting for the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance would effectively endorse the privatization of the steel plant. "We will fight in Parliament against the privatization of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant," he asserted.

The Education Minister also targeted Naidu and Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan saying they have failed to fulfill their promises made to the people. He said chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's commitment to empowering weaker sections, including fishermen is commendable. The chief minister has allocated four assembly seats to fishermen while nominating one to Rajya Sabha seat, he added.
