As the opposition alliance released its manifesto on Tuesday, the BJP ally shocked the TDP and Janasena parties with its announcement on Muslims reservation. The BJP has firmly stated its commitment to abolishing reservations for Muslims. Incidentally, this stance goes against the positions of the TDP and Janasena on this issue.

A major controversy erupted after the deepfake video involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments on Muslim reservations went viral on social media. In this context, the Andhra Pradesh BJP made a major announcement on X (formerly Twitter) reaffirming its stand to scrap Muslim reservations. The saffron party clearly indicated that it does not support the TDP and Janasena's views on this contentious matter.

Although Chandrababu Naidu was keen to ally with the BJP for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state, the BJP's central leadership was initially reluctant to accept the TDP into the NDA fold. Naidu had to make several efforts through associates and connections within the BJP to forge an alliance. After prolonged discussions in Delhi, the TDP managed to form an alliance with the BJP even though party leaders have made it clear that they no longer trust Naidu.

Notably, the BJP high command sent only one observer to the TDP-led alliance's manifesto release event, while state BJP leaders were absent. The BJP denied permission to print photos of PM Narendra Modi, party’s national president Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and state president Purandeswari on the manifesto.
