VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang on Monday, said the police department would take up large-scale recruitment of police personnel in the coming three years. He revealed that 6,500 police officers and staff will be recruited annually from next year’s job calendar. Speaking further he advised the youth not to have any doubts or misapprehensions about the new appointments.

Speaking to reporters at the police headquarters in Mangalagiri on Monday, he recalled the appointment of nearly 15,000 Mahila Samrakshana Karyadarsis (MSK) ( women protection secretaries)  in Village and Ward Secretariats for the protection of women. He said they would now be recognized as Mahila constables and would also be trained similarly to the regular constable in a phased manner through a capsule format, he said.

The DGP reminded that at present the state police training center has the capacity to train only 6,500 people at a time. So after the completion of the capsule training for 15 thousand women police, we will focus on the regular police recruitment process, he explained.

The DGP said that for the year 2019–20, 3,057 constable posts were already filled and they have undergone training. Another 11,000 posts are vacant for which recruitment has to be undertaken, he said. Gautam Sawang in a stern note said that it was not appropriate to spread false information about the recruitment process in the State, which is creating unnecessary misconceptions and doubts among the unemployed youth.

The DGP reminded that the government had recruited a total of 6,05,949 posts in the last two years. Of these, 1,84,264 were regular jobs, 19,701 were contract employees, 3,99,791 were outsourced and 2,193 were recruited through the  District Selection Committee. He also brought to the fore that only 34,563 vacancies were filled in the last five years during the previous government tenure.

He stated that more than 20 lakh women downloaded the Disha app. In addition, the DGP said that 96 police services are being provided through the AP Police Service App. The DGP said the department would ensure that there would 33 percent recruitment of women in the AP police force in line with national guidelines, which would further enhance the pride of the police force, he concluded.
